GHQ Modern US Heavy Weapons 1990-2005

This time we will look at GHQ’s 1:285 scale Modern US Heavy Weapons 1990 through 2005.  This set contains eight runners.  Runner “A” is the same that came with the Modern US Infantry blister.  It contains three solders prone with binoculars and M16s, three radio operators kneeling with M16s, and three solders kneeling and pointing with M16s.  This blister contains two “B” runners, each has four seated solders with M47 Dragons and four standing solders with Stinger SAMs.  Next is runner “C”, this blister contains three of these runners.  Each runner “C” has four each two man, tripod mounted M60 GPMG and bipod mounted M249 SAWs.  Lastly we have two “D” runners, each containing four solder standing with binoculars and pointing and five solders kneeling next to a mortar. I assume the mortar is the M224 60mm mortar, and will use them as such.

This blister contains:
3x prone officer/NCO with Binoculars and M16
3x radio operators with M16
3x kneeling and pointing officer/NCO with M16
12x prone M249 SAW solders
12x two man crew M60 GPMG
8x standing officer/NCO with Binoculars
8x one man kneeling mortars

From all I have seen so far, there are no M72 LAWs for this time period for US troops.  When I base them for Team Yankee, I will have to go with another manufacture or just pretend that one of the M16 troops is carrying one on each stand.

GHQ Modern US Infantry 1990-2005

Long pause between posts, anyway it has come to my attention that when I was planning on using GHQ's miniatures for use in the game Team Yankee (made by Battlefront) that GHQ doesn’t list the contents of each of their infantry blisters.

So I am going to start with N-125 Modern US Infantry 1990-2005 in 1:285 scale. In my pack it contained seven runners of 63 figures.  The blister pack come with one runner "A", it has three prone with binoculars and M16s, three kneeling with radio and M16s, and three kneeling and pointing with M16. It also contains six "B" runners that has two crouching or running troops with M16 with the M203 grenade launchers and seven M16 troops running or crouching.

This gives you a total of:
3x prone with binoculars
3x radio operators
3x NCO/Officer Kneeling and pointing
12x NCO with M16 with M203 Grenade launcher
42x M16 soldiers

It looks like GHQ has in each blister between six to eight runners, and I wouldn't doubt if they don’t give specific on their website because in quality control efforts they pull some runners, that where mis-cast and exchange them for others from the same set. So there is no guarantee you will get the exact number of each runner. But they can guarantee you will get one of each of the required runners.  This post and the ones to follow should give you a good idea of what is in each blister.

RoboTech RPG Tactics

Well it has been a long while since my last post, and since I am having issues making a good post on Facebook, plus a blog seems to work better at being public to all as well as works better for archival (without things getting lost).

Anyway the other day I, finally, played the RoboTech RPG Tactics table top game for the first time. We played at Ghost Quarter Games. The fist scenario out of the book we didn't take photos. The second scenario I will give a short battle report. My wife and I played Zentradi and had a couple friends play Earth Defense Force.

The scenario is to have the Zentradi get five battle pods to the opposing players table edge while the EDF attempts to defend. EDF won the initiative. So EDF deployed outside potential line of sight. Zentradi forces placed all the battle pods as close as we could to the forward edge of our deployment zones

End of round one EDF attempted to eliminate a couple of units, with no luck. The Zentradi boosted what movement we could. We where going for a rush for the table edge strategy and if we could get into a good position to make a good shot then fine, but not to sacrifice the movement to make the shot.

End of round two EDF eliminated five battle pods, but put one Valkyrie in a not so good spot. So when it came the the Zentradi's turn we lit it up. Otherwise Zentradi moved what it could.

End of round three, the EDF eliminated one battle pod. Then during the Zentradi's players turn successfully made five battle pods to the table edge with one still on the table and the Zentradi forces eliminated one Valkyrie.

My overall impression of the game is that I do like how it plays and will be planning on playing it some more in the future. I hope to be able to continue to make battle reports for events like this.

Custom Tank

Well it is a new year so time for a new post.

I will be eventually be going through the earlier posts of the templates to correct English names and confirm links are still active, but for now I am too busy with things going on in my personal life to do that at the moment.

Anyway, I came across this web page awhile back and I would personally like to try to make this:

http://the-lost-and-the-damned.664610.n2.nabble.com/From-M48A3-Patton-to-Custom-Warhammer-40k-vehicle-td6220601.html

I would like to make it without the rounded front using plastic card to make an angular front. Also I would like to add more details to the back. I don't think it would need the side door hatches (like in his finished photo), or the extra long track guards.I will post pics if I ever finish the project.

For those that are not familiar with the 1:35 models out there, they seem to fit in well with GW's Warhammer 40k miniatures, once you add bigger looking weapons. Also keep in mind most of those tanks will probably have to count as super heavies due to there size.

Reaver Monster Titan

So today I am watching Macross Frontier (a link for those who don't know what it is) and I keep thinking about my idea of making the Monster mecha from it into a Reaver titan. It is not the most grim dark mecha of the anime realm that could be used for 40K. But it definitely makes up for it with enough firepower and size for it to be used. Here is a link to a wikia article for those of you who don't know what the Monster is:
http://robotechmacross.wikia.com/wiki/Destroid_Monster

After scouring the web for the original paper model I had found years ago, I was unable to find the original website, but I did manage to locate the template on papercraft.eu at the following link:
http://www.papercraft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Monster-IV.rar

I believe the model might be too small at its current size so I plan to make a sample model to test it out and check the scale and them make the real thing at the proper scale. I really hope to have this model go from concept to reality quickly, but I really need to finish my War Hound first.

Now I do realize the weapon load out is kind wrong for a Reaver, since of course the Reaver typically has a large missile launcher on top. So I was thinking of just stating the the arms are the missile launchers instead and the top cannons are the normal gun cannons, thus functionally by the rules it would act the same as a Reaver Titan.

Tau Titan

Sorry for the extremely long delay in posting, but other things have been taking up too much of my time (funny how life can sometimes get in the way). Anyway here is a post I intended to post a long time ago.

Here is a unique titan I found on ebay a while back:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIQUE-Built-Painted-Warhammer-40K-Apocalypse-Tau-Titan-Gundam-Serpent-1-100-/130622478483?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e69b4d893

In the coming future I plan to build one myself since these models don't cost too much on ebay. The model is a Gundam Serpent 1/100 scale from the movie Gundam Wing: Endless Walts.

Since I know this blog post will last longer than the Ebay listing here is what the item description said:

"Up for auction is a completely built, painted, and detailed model of a 1/100 scale Gundam Serpent Custom, which I built in 2010 for use as a Tau Titan in Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse games.  However, I find myself with less and less time to play Warhammer these days.  The titan has only seen battle once, and has been sitting on my shelf ever since.

This is NOT a toy—it is a highly detailed 200-piece model from Japan, having been professionally built by me.  Gundam kits are somewhat difficult to build.  This kit cost me nearly $50. For a better idea of this model’s Gundam background, see this link: http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/MMS-01_Serpent

The model is completely articulated, with arms, hands, and legs that move to create a variety of poses, and the model can be armed with a variety of weapons, including heavy burst cannons and a bazooka-style heavy rail gun. The model took over 20 hours to build and paint.  The model has been painted in the same white & blue/grey paint scheme that matches the rest of my Tau army, but I’m sure it can fit with many others.  The panel lines on the titan are hand-drawn using a paint pen, and the Tau insignia are decals from Forge World in the UK.  See the photos of the titan in comparison to several of my other Tau models.  The titan is a pretty formidable model, and really fits in well with a Tau army because it looks just like a giant crisis suit.  The titan stands about 10 inches high.

Using Games Workshop’s Vehicle Design Rules, I created the titan, calling it a Tiger Shark.  The stats for the titan are as follows:

TIGER SHARK TITAN

Points    WS    BS    S    Fnt.    Side    Rear    I    A

Tiger Shark    280    4    4    10    14    13    12    4    2

§          war machine, walker, 2 structure points

§          twin-linked heavy burst cannons (60”, H4, S7, AP4)

§          2 missile pods

§          heavy rail gun (96”, D, AP2, Heavy 1, primary weapon, submunition—S7 AP3 7” blast)
555 POINTS

Winning bidders in the U.S. to pay $9 USPS Priority Mail Shipping with delivery confirmation and insurance.  Shipping to Canada will be $14 (need to pay customs fees, insurance, etc.).  I will welcome bids from Australia and Western Europe (shipping costs will vary); I will not ship to Italy or Eastern Europe.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.  Please see my feedback—I’m a straight shooter and make it a point to have every transaction come out flawlessly.  Thanks for looking at my auction, and please see the other auction I have for a custom Tau Super Heavy Tank, which I also built for use in Warhammer 40K Apocalypse games."

I purchased the model on ebay for a lot less than $50 with shipping. I will start building this model once I get
a few other Tau kits.

Also keep the spirit of the Tau going here are links to a few Tau Paper Hammer models:

Later on I will go through these templates and add the proper English names to them and confirm that the links work.It has been realized by myself and others that Eli's templates are designed for an A4 paper and not the US standard letter, you could rescale it smaller so that it will fit. I don't recommend doing that since it will make the model smaller than it should be. The other two solutions are to redo the templates or to print them on legal paper.
